Pono Pillows
Pono Pillows is a side project that I started, sewing pillows and donating to the foster children of Hawai'i Island. When I was a child, I had my own pillow that meant so much to me. It traveled with me everywhere and of course I couldn't sleep without it. The pillow, even though an inanimate object, gave me so much comfort and security. I wanted to share this light with our foster children here in Hawai'i. Lorna Saito is a foster mom herself and I was able to collaborate with her in 2019 with the idea of Pono Pillows and since then I have sewn and donated over 100 pillows for organizations such as H.Y.O.I (Hawai'i Youth Opportunities Initiative), Child Welfare Services, HI H.O.P.E.S East Hawai'i (Hawai'i Helping Our People Envision Success and Epic Ohana Organization. I gained so much personal satisfaction with this project and I will continue to network with any organization that believes in the impact of Pono Pillows!
