About Carly
Aloha! I am Carly, born and raised in Waikoloa on Hawai'i Island. I attended Waikoloa Elementary School were I chose to start YEY in 2015. I am a Kealakehe High School graduate as well as a graduate from Hawai'i Community College at Palamanui, earning my Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts. My passion for educating our youth lead me to make YEY my personal platform initiative when I decided to compete for the title of Miss Hawaii's Outstanding Teen 2016. I was so honored to win this title and be a part of the Miss America Organization because it allowed me to expand YEY. I am now the current Miss Kona Coffee 2020 and will be competing for Miss Hawaii in just a few short months! I am humbled and grateful for the support of my community with my mission of YEY which has made it successful on Hawai'i Island!
I hope to move forward with YEY, implementing it to schools across Hawai'i and even America!
Aunty Lorna
Aunty Lorna Saito has been working at Waikoloa Elementary and Middle School for about 25 years now. Previously, she also was employed by private agencies working with troubled and autistic children. I met her when I was only a kindergartener and she has been my favorite ever since! She is foster mom for many of the children that I tutor and has one of the biggest hearts I have ever known! She is a huge part of YEY because she is the one that believed in me and allowed me to create my platform initiative in her very own after-school program, Homework Lab.
